For an orientation to debt law and a guide to this site, go to Finding Your Way through Debt Litigation. There, you'll find materials aimed at wherever you may be in your own process. Or take a look at the materials below for a slightly different approach.
Welcome to Your Legal Leg Up. We've designed this site to help you wherever you may be along the debt spectrum, whether the bills are just beginning to pile up or suit has been filed.
In a way, the legal issues you will face will be the same wherever you are in the process, and many of the actions you will take (or will not take) will have an impact later on. But you have to start somewhere. If you are dealing with a specific issue --don't know how to file an Answer or whether to file a Counterclaim, you should take a look at the videos and articles sections. The videos and articles are not the same. In general, the articles are more in depth, and there are (or soon will be) more articles than videos.
I do continue to create both articles and videos as new issues arise and as this website itself grows and expands. If you have an issue arising out of debt collection or litigation, please feel free to contact me with a question or comment. Chances are that other people will be facing the same thing.

Wherever you start, though, be sure to check through the site to see how the information is connected and used in other contexts. This will be easy to do if you go to the video page or the article page and scan through the categories and links.
